On this day in 2015, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. Chicago bested the Tampa Bay lightning four games over two and took the Cup while at home in the Windy City. June 15th, 2015 was the first time the team won the Stanley Cup at home for the first time since 1938.
This was the Blackhawks’ third Cup championship in six seasons. Duncan Keith received the Conn Smythe trophy as MVP of the playoffs. More than anything, the win is remembered as the exclamation point on a 6 year run that punctuated a dynasty.
