After 22 years in the league, NBA legend Vince Carter has hung it up. The 43-year-old announced on the Winging It Podcast that he is “officially finished playing basketball.”
Carter’s Atlanta Hawks failed to make the NBA’s restructured postseason that is scheduled to tip off in Orlando. It was the “final straw” for an athlete who had been weighing retirement heavily anyhow.
Carter was the last player from the 1990’s remaining in the league and will be remembered most for his contributions to the art of dunking as well as the dunk contest.
