Seven people have died after a migrant boat carrying more than 30 people hit rocks close to a port in Lanzarote.
Lanzarote is a part of the Canary Islands, which belong to Spain.
The boat was one of 12 intercepted by authorities during an overnight mission.
Some 300 people in other boats were rescued. Emergency personnel told the AP that the boat crashed into pier rocks on the north of the island and overturned.
Rescuers said many of the migrants were from northwest African countries and had set sail from Morocco several days ago.
