American Airlines is changing the safety video it shows before every flight after complaints the ending is too ‘loud and celebratory’.The carrier started showing its updated safety briefing on its services from 2016 after it was given a modern makeover.The clip shows a female flight attendant talking through the aircraft’s safety features and procedures before a large group of staff and passengers come together in a group.In the final 20 seconds of the video, the cabin crew member then tells the camera ‘great is what we’re going for’ before the group starts cheering, whooping, clapping and giving each other high fives.But it appears some passengers – especially those who had experienced delays – have not been impressed with the upbeat ending.And now the airline has taken the decision to tone down the cheering to prevent travellers from becoming annoyed.An internal memo by AA that was obtained by airline blog View From The Wing said: ‘We heard that the ending of the safety video was too loud and celebratory, especially in situations where a flight may have been delayed or experienced some other kind of irregular operation.’So, we’ve adjusted the ending to dial down the cheering at the very end, and faded the music out to be softer.’The memo continues saying that the changes have already been made where the video is played on overhead screens.For aircraft with seat back monitors, the edited version will begin playing from next month.A spokesman for American Airlines told MailOnline Travel: ‘After listening to the feedback of our team members and customers we decided to quieten the ending of the safety video.’In the latest statistics from the US Department for Transportation, AA was ranked the fifth most punctual US carrier.In December 2017, 82 per cent of its services reached their destinations on time.The most punctual US airlines were deemed to be United and Delta, with JetBlue Airways last.
