Officials have confirmed a tornado has touched down just southwest of the Interstate 20 and Interstate 285 interchange and is heading toward downtown at 35 mph. Please take shelter if you are in the path of this storm.
A Tornado Warning is now in place for west-central DeKalb County and central Fulton County.
The warning continues for Atlanta until 11:15 a.m. A Tornado Watch is in place for a larger area of Alabama and Georgia until 4 p.m.
The severe weather could continue throughout the week especially on Tuesday when a level 2 or slight risk for severe storms has been.
The showers and thunderstorms will come in waves with the strongest storms coming during the daylight hours both Monday and Tuesday.
