Christian Eriksen will be fitted with a heart-starter device (ICD) following his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen has confirmed.
The 29-year-old was given emergency CPR on the pitch at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen after collapsing during the first half of his side’s 1-0 Group B defeat by Finland on Saturday evening.
Providing an update on Thursday morning, Boesen said: “After Christian has been through different heart examinations it has been decided that he should have an ICD (heart starter). This device is necessary after a cardiac attack due to rhythm disturbances.
“Christian has accepted the solution and the plan has moreover been confirmed by specialists nationally and internationally who all recommend the same treatment. We encourage everybody to give Christian and his family peace and privacy the following time.”
