Carpenter Bees are wood destroying insects that bore into wood. Most of the time, carpenter bees will attack and damage untreated, and unpainted wood. They will drill 1/2″ holes into the wood and build elaborate, and long tunnels and channels into the wood.
Effectively treating for carpenter bees involves finding the exit holes and treating each and every hole with an insecticidal dust. We use a product called Tempo dust which is a synthetic pyrethroid.
Using a dust to treat the carpenter bee holes is vastly superior and more effective than using a spray or aerosol product. Dust will permeate the hole and voids and last a lot longer than sprays and aerosols.
