GATE Exam is might be Compulsory for all B.Tech Students ! See How?
GATE 2020 is going to be compulsory for all engineering graduates. As per AICTE meeting, GATE will become exit exam that means only after clearing GATE you will get your engineeringdegree.
To improve the quality of engineering education in the country, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is mulling to introduce an exit examination for engineering students. The exam will be more like a common employability test which engineering students will have to take before appearing for their final BTech degree exam.
The government is keen on using GATE(GraduateAptitude Test in Engineering) in a new avatar for the purpose. The idea is to assess students on the basis of their technical skills to further make them eligible for jobs in the industry.
An official source was quoted as saying, “About 80% to 90% of engineering students take GATE every year as it is mandatory for admissions to MTech. Many public sector undertakings hire engineering students on the basis of their GATE scores”.
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangaluru conduct GATE each year for admissions to MTech programmes offered by engineering colleges across India.
AICTE is yet to take a final call on the implementation of the exam. One the decision is taken, the council would outline the draft to conduct the exam across India. Institutes failing to comply with it would have to bear the brunt.
As per the discussions at AICTE, GATE is going to be partially compulsory for every private and government B.tech college very soon. This is how as an EXIT EXAM is going to be conducted, a must give examination fo all, which will be based on the studies done so far in previous years. this exam will be conducted in the final year of the B.tech and students clearing this exam will only be considered as B.tech Graduates and the rest will have to re-appear for the test and clear it in order to get their degree.
So, now this exit exam is going to be at the level of the GATE as GATE is also on the same syllabus and pattern as of this exit exam. Which means that you have to start your preparation for GATE exam since your pre-final year or second year which will make you fit for the Exit Exam as well as the GATE exam.
β‘ One of the AICTE officials was quoted as saying, “Continuation of the AICTE approval to the engineering programmes of the institution will depend on their response to the proposed test. It will be their responsibility to encourage their students to take the test”.
