Queensland’s hotel quarantine system has been paused for interstate arrivals due to mounting pressure, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says, as the state records zero new COVID-19 cases.
It comes as officials confirm two truck drivers, who were thought to have had coronavirus yesterday, are now not considered cases after further testing.
The Premier announced interstate hotspot arrivals into hotel quarantine would be stopped for two weeks.
“Queensland is being loved to death. We have been overwhelmed by new arrivals from interstate hotspots relocating to Queensland to escape lockdowns in New South Wales and Victoria,” she said.
“We are scrambling for hotels, and this has got to stop, it’s too much pressure.
“It’s putting our workers at risk and it’s also putting our community at risk as well.”
