New York Times Crossword, Tuesday 6/8/21:
Was hard for a Tuesday for me! I wasn’t that familiar with the phrase “Tennis, anyone?” and so the cross with ZOYSIA got me. Had to run the alphabet on that cross. (Down there with SHANANA, ELBARTO, and STEVEYOUNG, that’s a pretty tough proper-noun-laden south for a Tuesday). SAKI at 1D was also out of my wheelhouse.

Nice that the theme was consistent (turning the same IS sounds to the same ISH sounds), but I just didn’t find it super interesting. That’s very subjective. I didn’t find the fill particularly brilliant either, though I did like SELTZER, PERSONA, and DITHERED. The time was closer to an average Wednesday time than a Tuesday time for me, these days, but I’m pretty bad at names, in general.

9s on the Mini and 5m10s on the daily puzzle.
