Tesla Breaking News – No More Radar, Vision System Future

Tesla has officially announced the future of Autopilot will rely solely on vision. Although Elon Musk has been hinting that they were pivoting to a vision only based system, it appears Tesla has rather rapidly initiated this change.

North American Tesla Model 3 and Model Y will start shipping without a radar installed on the car. All deliveries starting in May, and future deliveries will now rely solely on the cameras on the car for Autopilot functions.

All other markets will continue to be shipped Model 3 and Model Y cars with the radar on board. In addition, Model X and Model S will continue to have the radar on board globally.

Tesla has also announced some restrictions to Autopilot and FSD functionality initially during this change. These changes will limit, and in some cases completely remove, functionality for a period of time not disclosed.
