St. Ann’s Bay Residents Demand Drain Cleaning
Residents of Wharf Street, St. Ann’s Bay are calling for urgent assistance to clean a drain running through private properties, spanning both commercial and residential lands in the town. They say it has neither been cleaned nor maintained, putting them at a higher risk for flooding during the hurricane season.
If you travel along a section of Wharf Street in St. Ann, there is a stench, especially when it rains; coming from a gutter in the community. But you will not be able to spot the drain.
That’s because of the trees and shrubs that have begun to grow from it, competing with the walls on either side.
Residents say this section of the drain has not been cleaned in years, despite its linkages which go into the town.
Private tutor’s mediation was successful, private tutoring can continue
A Trelawny teacher who recently took to social media to lament alleged harassment from her neighbours is today reporting good news. This after her private tutoring allegedly led neighbours to report her to her landlord, demanding eviction.
The teacher says following mediation, she’s been given the go-ahead to resume classes at her home.
